Guide In
Bali

When you're in Bali, we prepared recommendations on what to do there!
You can check our curated guide below

An airplane trip from the US to Bali ranges from 20 to 25 hours depending on where you’re departing from.

The best airlines for travel are Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airlines, as these companies prioritize traveler comfort.
When you arrive in Bali, you will be prompted to pay $35 for a traveler’s visa (can be paid through card)

You should exchange currency (or obtain a credit card) in the airport and
banks such as Mandiri, BCA, and Permata to name a few.
Before you leave the airport, make sure to get a mobile Indonesian sim card.
These are readily available usually near the exits/bag retrieval area

Gojek and Grab will be your best friends! Both companies have
car and motorcycle services and are similar to Uber or Lyft.

The roads in Bali are often very narrow and can be dangerous. If you’ve never
ridden a motorcycle, now would not be the time to try.

There are many tourists in Bali that choose to rent a motorcycle for better mobility,
please only consider this if you’re very comfortable using the vehicle!
Motorcycle accidents in Bali are common due to the nature of the roads.

Be careful with taxis because a lot of them can be expensive. If you do
use a taxi, we recommend BlueBird (this is more for getting out of the
airport where Grab and Gojek are not available)

Do not go to local money exchanges,
they will rip you off!

Instead, exchange in the airport, or in
these following bank chains:

Bank Mandiri
Bank BCA
Bank Permata

*Note: Mastercard and Visa CC are accepted generally in
non-street food/market places!
*AMEX/Discovery is not accepted in Bali;
*Credit cards are widely used! If you go to a warung (small
local store) though, a majority of them only take cash

Here is a list of things we would recommend you bring.
If you forget something, don’t worry!
Bali is pretty developed and you can get most goods here.
What you should bring on your trip to Bali includes:

Shoes: flip-flops, sandals,
sneakers, nicer shoes
Nicer shoes are recommended if you plan on going to
clubs or bars, many of them have a dress code

Bug sprayBali has mosquitoes! Make sure you bring some
SunscreenReef safe is even better!
Charcoal pillsHighly recommend eating a few before each meal
Hiking! There are mountain ranges and volcanoes to go to :)
SwimsuitFor beaches and waterparks
HatThe tropical sun is no joke!
Note: The Seminyak area is in the southwestern
region of Bali, close to the airport
We recommend you stay in the Seminyak area in Bali, which is near most beaches, stores, and activities. This is also near the wedding venue. You could also stay around Legian, Kuta and Kerobokan area as well. There are two major groups of accommodations: Villas and Hotels. For Villas we recommend using AirBnB or Agoda.

If you are with a large group, we recommend booking an Airbnb villa as opposed to
a hotel as prices will be cheaper

Oftentimes villas provide ample space, privacy, and usually a private pool. As a
bonus, some also come with included cleaning services

Ensure that you make hotel/villa reservations months in advance!
June is usually peak tourism season, so the sooner you reserve the better!"

If you would prefer to stay at a hotel rather than
an Airbnb, we would recommend the following!

No Beachfront

As you walk alongside them, you can also check out all the elaborate temples in the area. Mount Batur

Tegalalang Rice Terrace comprises a series of cascading rice fields. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the area is especially popular during sunrise and sunset. Take your time to explore the terraces, visit the nearby Bali Pulina plantation, and have a go on the mountain-edge swings. To see the fields at their greenest, visit in March, August or September. They're also green in December and February but are slippery due to the rainy season.

Waterbom Bali

World-class slides and rides are built and maintained to strict international safety standards. The advanced salt chlorination technique is soft on the environment and on your skin. The ultimate escape to relaxation or thrills… Whatever satisfies the soul most! A globally acclaimed waterpark that guarantees a day of fun!!

We recommend downloading the following apps:

This is the main app used for communication in Bali. If you
ever need to communicate with Airbnb hosts, tour guides, or
just locals in general, it’s helpful to have the app on hand.

If you don’t already have this, make sure you have it!
Sometimes internet service will not be readily available so
google maps is good to have.

As mentioned before, these two are like Uber and Lyft.
Prices are usually quite cheap (Gojek is cheaper than Grab)
and rides can either be on cars or motorcycles. If you’ve
never been on a motorcycle, we would advise having cars as
your main transport!
Can also be used for food and supplies delivery (similar to
UberEats or Go Puff).

The most reliable, safe, and best-priced taxi service. Great for
westerners. Please also see the note below:
Do not ever take a non bluebird taxi. They will charge very
high prices.

Thank You
